About Iris & Sol

When I travelled to Europe for the first time, I backpacked through Ireland. A self proclaimed leprechaun tour bus driver (his words, not mine) said that the sun is always shining, it’s just above the clouds. That stayed with me. One year prior to this, I had lost my best friend to cancer and her wish for us was to travel the world - something she was never able to do. So it was quite fitting to have my first stop be filled with that kind of optimism.

Fast forward 10 years. I’m a mom of two little boys, I’ve travelled a bunch, I’ve seen a lot of Christmas movies, I’ve eaten a lot of pizza and drank a lot of pinot grigio. Though my life is filled with so much good, I have experienced heartache through my transition from just Deborah to Noah & Mathis' mama. For the life of both my boys, a loss was experienced right before them. A blighted ovum miscarriage and a chemical pregnancy are part of my story and it affected both my full term pregnancies and postpartum experiences immensely - especially my mental health.

I’ve always wanted to raise awareness for pregnancy/infant/child loss and infertility as those who have experienced this can feel quite lonely. And so, Iris & Sol was born.

Iris & Sol is inspired by my boys and the journey I have been on to become their maman.

I create timeless, handmade, custom pieces from Canadian sourced materials as a symbol of those we love in our lives. My mission is to support and bring awareness to perinatal/child loss and mothers' mental health. We can commemorate those we love or have lost by keeping a piece of them close to our hearts.

Iris stands for rainbow. Sol stands for sun. We can find both through anything we face in life.

By raising awareness for mothers' mental health, I also give back with every purchase to a community that has helped me so much. See how I give back here.
